This position is hybrid requiring 3 days a week in the Framingham Corporate Office.

What you'll be doing:
Provide support and guidance to the vendor that manages the Tax-Exempt operations, along with ensuring targeted metrics are being met.
Serve as the senior specialist supporting Tax Exempt for multiple business units within the Order to Cash portfolios including but not limited to Retail, Staples.com, Staples Business Advantage, HiTouch, Quill, Southwest.
Collect, review, and analyze key team statistics to assess impact to ensure that all CPI/KPI and other key metrics are being achieved.
Conduct regular business reviews with vendors and key business partners to assess performance and identify areas of opportunity.
Serve as the point of contact for the vendor and supporting business groups on questions from the customers related to tax exempt documentation.
Validation of incoming tax-exempt certificates from customers ensuring accuracy of forms being provided.
Monitor and research ever changing sales and use tax laws, statues, regulations and required tax-exempt forms by using all resources and reference materials available and education to the team on the most up to date state sales and use tax requirements.
Coordinate tracking, management, communication and resolution over escalations and outages with vendors.
Build and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners.
Maintain the highest level of customer experience focus that exceeds internal and external client expectations.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with special projects as needed including but not limited to process changes, system maintenance and upgrades, participation in UAT and production testing on system upgrades and changes.
Collaborate and support business teams and vendor in documentation updates, training and implementation of any changes in process or systems and identifying continuing education opportunities for the team.
Review of vendor efforts to complete the monthly expiration campaigns for applicable business units.
Quality assurance and calibration sessions of vendor support identifying training areas and reporting back to the vendor on the findings.
What you bring to the table:
Strong knowledge and expertise in multi-state sales tax exemption.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams.
History of presenting to large groups and senior leadership both in person and virtually.
Intermediate to higher level Excel with a strong ability to analyze data while identifying trends.
Project management experience.
Ability to self-motivate with excellent time management skills.
Organized, detail oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize a fast-paced, varied workload.
Ability to assess a problem and promptly resolve or escalate accordingly.
