About the Internship:
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is housed in various buildings on the National Institute of Health's (NIH) primary campus in Bethesda, MD. NHLBI occupies over 350,000 square feet of clinical space, biomedical research laboratories and office/administrative space on campus. During this internship, the intern will:
Gain experience as an architect/owner's representative in the public sector
Support Project Managers throughout various renovation project phases
Help generate presentation materials using floor plans, data, images, graphs, graphics, etc.
Coordinate educational activities for the rest of the team
Organize and update the materials library
Survey, document, and catalogue existing NHLBI facilities
Create, update, and refine AutoCAD drawings (drafting)
Assist with space planning, laboratory, and office surveys, and updating architectural floor plans
Support architects with various project-related tasks as needed
Required Skills/Background:
Must be currently studying Architecture, Engineering, Facility Planning and/or Project Management
Successful time management and communication skills
Self-directed critical thinker
Detail-oriented and highly organized
US Citizenship is required
Details:
This internship will be primarily onsite (main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD), however, will have some opportunity for telework.
Schedule: Full-time position for the summer 40hours/week
Full-time paid, summer internship (with potential for a part-time opportunity during the school year)
