Job Description:

St. Baldrick's Foundation is proud to fund lifesaving research throughout the world, awarding grants that focus on all major types of childhood cancers.

The Grants Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the pre-award and peer review responsibilities, with a focus on working with grant reviewers, applicants, their institution representatives, and SBF staff to execute a rigorous peer review process. The Manager will help monitor compliance with foundation policies, and to improve pre-award processes. The Manager will work closely with the Director to publicize new and existing awards through the foundation website, press releases and other communications. This position will implement and analyze reviewer and applicant surveys and stay up to date on pre-award and peer review best practices. The Manager will handle other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure the peer review process is run in an organized, efficient, professional manner, and in accordance with foundation policy.
  • Continuously stay up to date on pre-award, grants administration, and peer review best practices.
  • Host informative webinars for applicants and reviewers.
  • Provide information to applicants and reviewers as needed year-round.
  • Assist with peer review related materials for Board and committee meetings.
  • Oversee applicant and reviewer survey distribution and analysis.
  • Perform grant making administrative functions to ensure compliance.
  • Track pre-award issues and recommend improvements for future grant cycles.
  • Update Proposal Central database, and other databases as needed.
  • Support Director in outcomes projects and identifying accomplishments for grant communications.
  • Assist with updates for the St. Baldrick's website, including funding maps, lay summaries, and more.
  • Run reports as needed by staff/board.
  • Assist with Research Priorities Summit and Scientific Program Committee meetings.
  • Attend conferences and industry meetings as needed.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

Minimal Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or relevant experience.
  • At least 3-years of grant administration work experience
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook required; familiarity with grants database programs a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional demeanor, common sense, and flexibility required.
  • Ability to work seasonal overtime as required.
  • Ability to represent the Foundation professionally at events and in the office.
