Job Description:

NAC Philotechnics maintains over 42 years' experience in radioactive material disposal and radiological decommissioning services. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN.

Position Summary:

This position will oversee decommissioning-related health physics activities including planning, conducting, evaluating, and documenting final status radiological surveys for demonstrating compliance with dose or risk-based regulations or standards, and oversight of radiological field projects. When not performing final status surveys or decommissioning-related tasks, the position will oversee site specific RML requirements and health physics program requirements at our Oak Ridge, Tennessee radiological facility and coordinate with Corporate RSO to address radiological risks during operations.

Position Location - This position will be located at NAC Philotechnics offices in Oak Ridge, TN Must be able to travel to temporary project locations of varying durations.

Position Qualifications:
  • Travel is required.
  • A Two-Year Technical Degree in Health Physics or related field and/or a combination of training and experience such as DOE RCT core, Radiological Controls Article 108, Radiological Controls for Shipyards; a Bachelor degree in Health Physics related field or other closely related environmental field or equivalent experience in the field is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in radiological site characterization and remediation under MARSSIM and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • 1+ years of Project Management experience with managing large-scale and complex field sites involving radiological, hazardous, and mixed wastes.
  • Must have 40-hour HAZWOPER and the ability to obtain a medical clearance for PPE and respirator use.
  • Must be knowledgeable about NRC, Agreement State, and other related environmental regulations affecting work in remediation environments and licensed facilities.
  • Must be knowledgeable about 49 CFR 172 training for packaging, shipping, and transportation requirements for radioactive and mixed waste materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are necessary.
  • Must be knowledgeable about a variety of health physics equipment/tools and various decontamination techniques.
  • Must be able to perform duties in hazardous environments in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Software suites to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Experience with Adobe preferred.
  • Effective writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate company-owned vehicles to locations nationwide.
