In search of a dedicated Biobank Technologist II to play a supportive role in the advancement of our biorepository facilities. The Technician will be instrumental in executing tasks that span the entire lifecycle of biospecimens. The successful candidate will ensure the precision and integrity of biological materials are upheld through diligent adherence to sample handling and storage best practices. Situated in our Norwood, MA facility, this full-time, lab-based contract to hire position, will help drive the success of biobanking initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
Operate the LabVantage Laboratory Inventory Management System (LIMS) to manage all sample handling activities, safeguarding the chain of custody and maintaining rigorous audit trails.
Efficiently process biospecimen shipments, meticulously documenting and promptly reporting any discrepancies to management.
Employ advanced robotics and automation technology to accurately reformat and store biospecimens.
Collaborate effectively with researchers, clinicians, and various stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination of biospecimen shipments as needed.
Maintain biospecimens at specified temperatures, from room temperature to ultra-cold conditions, adhering to material-specific SOPs.
Contribute to the creation of training documentation and provide guidance to newer team members as they acclimate to our processes.
Adhere to GLP/GCLP guidelines, regulatory mandates, and safety protocols, maintaining a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
Be prepared to work flexible hours to accommodate the operational demands of the biobank, which may include evening and weekend shifts.
Take on additional responsibilities as necessary to support the team and the biobank's objectives.
Education & Qualifications
High School diploma with 4 years' or Associate Degree with 2 years' relevant work experience in a laboratory or sample storage setting.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skills may be considered.
Demonstrated experience with biospecimen lifecycle management and proficiency in the use of LIMS, with LabVantage experience being a plus.
The ability to consistently perform tasks with a high level of accuracy, learn new procedures, follow detailed instructions, and comply with safety protocols.
