Job Description:

This position supports the Training Department in optimizing restaurant performance through the planning, execution, follow through and measurement of training that is aligned to Company goals and specific departmental needs. This role is responsible for assisting in the creation and execution of training plans, measurement and follow-through in support of new restaurant openings, training center certification processes, and helps to build a culture of engagement through leadership, example setting, communication, teaching, encouraging involvement, seeking feedback and providing recognition.

Essential Functions

  • Assess, communicate, and support execution of Training department plans and initiatives by assisting in the creation of the content of training videos, documents and quizzes.
  • Coordinate the management, maintenance, and cleanliness of the HGI Test Kitchen, including maintenance of kitchen equipment and small wares.
  • Support the protection of assets through teaching during training events, including "Shroom U", remote training sessions and communicate topics such as risk management (safety, security, assets protection, food safety), restaurant profitability, hospitality, and service.
  • Manage and interface with Guest Experience Platforms and report on results as needed, as determined by the Director of Training.
  • Track and report on vital Guest satisfaction matrices, with information provided by the current guest satisfaction systems.
  • Assist with requirements of Guest Services regarding relationships and loyalty.
  • Works with department leaders by providing feedback and ideas to maximize performance for the brand.
  • Assist with training and follow-through for new product and procedure implementations which include Field Training in stores and assisting in creating or production of training films and Manuals.
  • Assist the Operations Coaches and franchise community by supporting the proper application, use, and measurement of training systems.
  • Provide expertise and assistance in assigned specialty areas; this may include the development of programs, learning networks, and other activities or assignments of support for training and performance improvement.
  • Be familiar with all food and beverage quality and cleanliness standards as per the Operations Manual.
  • Foster positive relationships with employees and franchisees.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will occasionally supervise HGI store level employees and franchisees' employees.

Work Environment

This position entails frequent use of standard pizza and kitchen equipment such as ovens, freezers, coolers, and grills. There is also frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items. Also works in an office environment and uses computers, still and video cameras, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee.
  • Frequently touch food ingredients
  • Frequently making pizza and operating the ovens
  • Frequent cleaning of FOH and BOH kitchen equipment and store equipment.
  • Driving of a personal, company or rented vehicle or as a passenger on commercial flights to travel to company owned and franchised stores.
  • Frequently required to stand for long periods of time; sit, walk, bend and stoop.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 50 pounds.
  • Frequently required to use a computer, keyboard and computer screen
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to focus at night.
  • Required to refrain from drinking alcohol prior to performing specific duties of job such as driving.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional hours outside of normal business hours and days of the week may be required. Unless traveling in the field or on approved business, training team members are expected to work from HGI offices or work from home if applicable.
  • Training & Development Coordinators will be required to work at New Store Openings during the fiscal year.
  • A minimum of 1 week per opening is expected.
  • Training & Development Coordinators may be asked to accompany an Operations Coach on Mellowed Out report visits for additional training purposes.

Travel

Approximately 60% travel (or as directed) expected during a fiscal calendar year. This position could possibly require the employee to be away from home up to two to three weeks at a time.

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years restaurant supervisory experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Restaurant Management Experience - 3 yrs.
  • Training Leadership Experience - 2 yrs.
  • New Restaurant Opening Experience - 1 yr.
  • Some College coursework, preferably in Hotel & Restaurant Management
