Spencer Ogden is seeking a Process Control Engineer to support our client in the Baytown and Bayport areas. The ideal candidate will oversee the management of various control systems, including Rockwell PlantPAx, FactoryTalk, and controlLogix systems, as well as ABB Symphony Plus DCS control systems at designated sites. While primarily based at one location, the role will also involve serving another site.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all Process Control-related matters at the designated sites.
Manage maintenance activities for control systems and associated hardware components, coordinating with third-party vendors when necessary.
Maintain communication and relationships with automation providers (Rockwell/ABB) for support and project collaboration.
Collaborate with the Maintenance organization to plan and execute hardware-related modifications.
Own and manage the site's Master I/O database.
Coordinate with other departments for periodic testing of interlock and safeguarding systems.
Plan and execute system upgrades during plant shutdowns.
Stay updated on industry trends and technologies.
Develop site-specific documentation for major projects and external vendor engagements.
Projects:
Support internal projects and management of change (MOC) initiatives to develop process control strategies.
Draft process control narratives for new or modified control loops.
Define hardware requirements for projects or MOCs.
Collaborate with contractors/vendors for project scoping and deliverables approval.
Perform changes to alarm systems as needed.
E&I Support (Desirable):
Assist with various electrical and instrumentation tasks as required by site or project needs.
Provide support for instrumentation scoping and selection based on workload.
Requirements:
Degree in Chemical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering, preferably with a focus on Process Control or Systems Engineering.
5-7 years of experience in the Industrial Automation Industry with onsite exposure. Chemical or Petrochemical manufacturing site experience is a plus.
Experience in HMI and PLC programming is essential.
Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix, Studio 5000, Rockwell PlantPAx, and FactoryTalk applications, and/or ABB INF190 is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with stakeholders.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
