The Executive Vice President, Manufacturing Advancement position is responsible for and provides management and oversight for the Manufacturing Advancement division, establishing communication lines and provide strategic vision for the department and ensures that the division goals and vision are aligned with the mission of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Leads oversight and engagement with key stakeholders, including the Department of Defense ad military officials to support the growth of a national model for large-scale, accelerated training for the defense industrial base in critical skills
Works with high-level audiences to develop strategies to identify and address long-term challenges and develop strategies to position the organization through contract mechanisms, to support the DOD in addressing them
Develops partnerships with business, industry, and technology executives that adds value to the region and current and future programs
Supports the development of a platform for manufacturers to innovate and integrate emerging technology into their processes, assists startup companies, and develops an industry 4.0 training capability
Provides leadership in the planning and prioritizing of related business strategies, meets with high-level audiences, and develops partnerships key to the success and development of the organization
Identifies opportunities and growth strategies for training programs at scale which will provide a competitive advantage for the region
Coordinates advanced manufacturing training programs with higher education centers and community colleges, and secondary school systems throughout the region to build a pipeline of skilled workers to support current and future needs in the region
Assists with and/or leads regional efforts to secure incremental funding for advanced manufacturing workforce training programs as well as student scholarship funding
Provides day-to -day management and oversight for the Manufacturing Advancement division
Establish communication lines and provide strategic vision for the department
Ensures that the division goals and vision are aligned with the mission of the organization
Identified and works to develop the senior leadership team of Manufacturing Advancement team.
Co-leads a collaborative initiative with Old Dominion University and industry leaders to develop a Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MfgET) program that will provide opportunities for engineering students to earn their degree
Assists the regional economic development team with prospect visits, skills requirement evaluations, and wrap-around support in support of business attraction, retention and expansion in the Southern Virginia region
Assists existing and new manufacturing companies with employee referrals and supply chain needs to reduce startup risks
Oversees operation and strategic direction of the Capstone IMT program
May be required to attend high-level meetings, represent and speak on behalf of the organization in the absence of the President
Performs other elated duties as required
Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in business management, business development, leadership, engineering or comparable field
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a leadership role in a manufacturing facility or a business that includes precision manufacturing (i.e. CNC machining, metrology, welding, and automation) as part of its operations
Supervisory experience
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel throughout Virginia as well as occasional out-of-state trips
Must have advanced technical and business acumen that can form strong relationships with industry partners, Department of Defense representatives, trainers, students, political representatives, funding agencies and economic development efforts
Knowledge of defense manufacturing and advanced manufacturing technology
Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful partnerships with local, regional, state, and federal stakeholders
Customer service oriented and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and possess the ability to multi-task and troubleshoot in a multi-faceted work environment
Must be able to lead and work effectively in a team-oriented work environment
Demonstrated ability to secure grant and/or contract funding
Workforce development and/or industrial training experience
