Overview:

As we take our business into the next 50 years, we have identified the need to expand our procurement team to drive our customer experience though improved product planning and materials sourcing and we are looking for a Buyer to assist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing components from suppliers to timely delivery of parts, support production needs, managing positive vendor relationships and maintaining a focus on vendor performance to ensure competitive pricing and quality products.

Purpose:

Provide excellent sourcing, vendor management, and inventory management practices that deliver results in supporting company objectives in Cost, Quality and Schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and process purchase orders ensuring practice of competitive bidding to validate competitiveness of supply base for assigned spend responsibility.
  • Schedule deliveries and ensure timely fulfillment of orders based on production needs and maintaining accurate vendor estimated time of arrival dates.
  • Manage assigned vendors and SKU's. Ensuring data accuracy (lead times, pricing, etc.) in the planning system.
  • Expedite, escalate, and manage any supply chain delays that may effect on time and in full delivery requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen ongoing relationships with existing vendors including attending vendor business review meetings as appropriate.
  • Capture and report all savings / cost avoidance opportunities to contribute to reporting of annualized savings results.
  • Reduce inventory levels on top spend items through effective vendor stock solutions and programs.
  • Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset write-offs for assigned vendors and product categories.
  • Communicate strategies to material control to clear and dispose of end-of-life product lines, parts, and materials in a timely manner.
  • Mitigate product / vendor risks through strategic second sourcing.
  • Manage vendor quality improvements, by following up and reporting preventative action measures as determined by quality manger and quality team.
  • Work with assigned vendors on processing defective materials ensuring Adventurer is reimbursed for any non-usable components.
  • Work with engineering team on product development sourcing for new projects or business needs.
  • Assist purchasing team in the completion of continuous improvement projects.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed depending on the demands of the business.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience buying in a similar industry or demonstrated equivalent, knowledge of supply chain function through work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or BA in related field and APICS certification a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of, buying, ordering procedures, material requirements planning, computer systems that support production, e.g., inventory control, purchasing, Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
  • Excellent communication skills, cross functional experience and demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment required.
  • Must be comfortable negotiating changes with vendors and/.or manufacturing teams.
  • Above average office skills including Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations requiring sequencing of dates and lead-times, and other numeric information (i.e. unit of measure conversions and price calculating).
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and cross functionally.
  • Strong positive customer service orientation toward both external and internal customers
