Job Description:

The buyer is responsible for sourcing and ordering products, negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules, and managing supplier relationships for a growing organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Teamwork is a condition of employment.
  • Responsible for all purchasing functions necessary to meet the needs of assigned customers.
  • Communicate effectively across the team to maintain optimum inventory levels needed to support sales.
  • Sets and drives improvement pertaining to supplier delivery, cost and inventory turns performance.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships, including but not limited to contract review, negotiations, purchasing inventory, non-inventory, transportation carriers.
  • Resolve logistic related issues by working with the appropriate personnel in the organization to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as a resource to resolve complex purchasing problems and issues internally and at supplier levels.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize and support the supply chain processes and improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team to support account issues, quotes; perform other related tasks as requested.
  • Participate in projects as needed and provide a balanced focus on customer service; build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and key suppliers.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to moving parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be medium.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires sitting several hours at a time, in addition to walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs throughout the day. The employee must lift and/or move items up to 25lbs and up to 50lbs occasionally.

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Typical salary office hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:00am, 7:30am, or 8:00am to 5:00pm with an expectation of working 45 hours a week, excluding lunch break. Overtime may be required depending on need.

Travel:

No travel is required at this time.

Required Education and Experience:

Computer proficiency with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

Professional experience following purchasing policies and procedures.

Experience negotiating vendor terms, pricing, delivery, and networking.

Four-year degree or five years of buying experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Knowledge of buying electronic products is highly desirable.
