JOB SUMMARY: An Estimator will be responsible for the preparation complex civil construction project bids encompassing a variety of different construction fields primarily including highways, City/Town/Village streets, utility construction, site work, or water/wastewater treatment. An Estimator will be critical in the pre-construction phase ensuring accurate takeoffs, accurate cost estimation, and ensuring compliance with various federal, state, and local program compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Thoroughly analyze bid documents to accurately prepare estimates and quotes up to $25 million in a timely manner using B2W Estimate, as assigned by the Chief Estimator.
Prepare accurate takeoffs using Planswift/Insite to ensure accurate bid quantities and material lists.
Solicit quotes from and communicate with subcontractors and suppliers with accurate and sufficient documentation to complete good faith effort packages.
Participate in site visits and attend pre-bid meetings.
Communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and government entities to ensure competitiveness and completeness of scope.
Prepare preliminary schedules to determine fitness of projects with company backlog.
Lead bid reviews with Chief Estimator and Senior Management.
Lead handoff meetings and attend post-project reviews with project managers.
Complete GFE packages for full and partial waivers.
Participate in the buyout process with Project Managers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree.
5 years of Heavy-Highway/Civil construction estimating experience with a solid understanding of standard construction practices and procedures.
Proficient in the B2W Suite of software/Planswift/Insite/MS Office.
