Environmental Health & Safety Assistant at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Grand Prairie, Texas

Job Description:

PPG has an incredible opportunity available for an Environmental Health & Safety Assistant at our Grand Prairie, TX location. As an Environmental Health & Safety Assistant, you will lead of all aspects of hazardous waste operations according to applicable federal, state and local regulations and Corporate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements. You will also coordinate with other departments to ensure segregation of wastes for all of our waste streams to ensure compatibility and updating waste profiles. You will also maintain all Corporate EHS federal, state and local regulatory required documentation and recordkeeping. You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure weekly container inspections are performed and documented as required by Resource Conservation and Recovery (RCRA) and Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).

  • Manage the facility waste programs.

  • Complete of all regulatory and PPG required waste reports.

  • Coordinate with departments that generate wastes on accurate waste characterization, segregation of incompatible waste streams and updating new waste profiles.

  • Coordinate all waste shipments within the prescribed 90-day accumulation time limit.

  • Provide employee training on an annual basis in regulated waste requirements and based on changes in waste management practices and requirements.

  • Support site EHS Manager and SBU EHS team for Aerospace sustainability projects to reduce hazardous waste and reduce environmental impact.

  • Assist the facility HazMat Response Team in responding to hazardous waste related emergencies.

  • Maintain the RCRA Contingency Plan supply list.

  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis for hazardous waste related incidents.

  • Conduct Regulatory Audits and Compliance Inspections.

Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; 2+ year degree, preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience.

  • 1+ years experience related to industrial hazardous waste management.

  • 40hr HazWOP preferred, but not required

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
