Position Summary:
This position's primary duties will include providing remote or face-to-face coaching to Early Learning Programs (ELPs). Additional duties include: guiding, advising, and supporting ELPs in attaining or maintaining Texas Rising Star certification. The Texas Rising Star Mentor II will assist early learning programs to improve their practice and achieve progressively higher levels of quality. Texas Rising Star mentors also provide ongoing professional development and assist early learning programs in accessing resources and materials. This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing all Texas Rising Star-related activities associated with the Child Care Services (CCS) Program in the 13-county Houston-Galveston region.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Basic knowledge of standard Office Software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Texas Rising Star staff members are required to complete annual professional development and continuing education consistent with the Texas Rising Star annual minimum training hours required for a Texas Rising Star-certified child care center director.
All mentors must attain mentor micro-credentialing, as described in the Texas Rising Star Guidelines.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years experience in teaching or related field.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
