Sr. Steam Turbine Generator Specialist

The Sr. Steam Turbine Generator Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing inspection and maintenance methods, procedures, and practices to insure the reliability of steam turbine generators in the North America Business (NAB).



What you'll do:



  • Development and deployment of best practice TG maintenance strategies to include; Provide oversight for turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems through detailed inspections, turnaround planning, and detailed reporting and documentation.


  • Provide technical assistance for unscheduled TG repairs and issues. Evaluate test data.


  • Provide shop inspection coverage during major overhauls.


  • Review and make spare parts inventory recommendations for general operation and maintenance turnarounds.


  • Technical review and update of TG standards and maintenance practices.


  • Periodic audit of maintenance and operating practice for each machine.


  • Ensuring up to date documentation is maintained and available Development and ongoing review of the 10yr capex/opex planning for maintenance turnaround planning.


  • Assist with bid specifications and evaluations to support procurement initiatives.


  • Condition assessment, risk review, and TG major/minor outage planning Coordination of inspections, condition assessments, and communication of best practices across the north America business unit.


  • Perform pre-outage planning risk reviews.


  • Develop TG major and minor outage plans with all sites.


  • Ensure proper QA/QC during TG maintenance outages.


  • Troubleshooting and failure investigations (defect elimination) Review and evaluate operating data to troubleshoot equipment performance and troubles.


  • Interface with internal resources and external resources, reporting and documentation management. Interfacing with individual site maintenance and capital teams.





What you'll need:



  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology Information required


  • Engineering or Technical Certification in a related field.


  • Electrical Engineering degree recognized by the local authority. Registration with local engineering society, Registration as P. Eng. preferred


  • 8 years of related industrial Engineering experience with 5 years of direct steam turbine generator experience which includes major overhaul, operations, shop repair and field supervision of millwrights and machinist.


  • 8+ years of direct steam turbine generator experience which includes major overhaul, operations, shop repair and field supervision of millwrights and machinist preferred.


  • Additional experience working in an industrial setting is an asset.





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES




REQUIRED



  • Turbo generator control, operation, and protection:


  • Though understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.


  • Ability to evaluate test results to determine if data is acceptable or erroneous


  • Vibration monitoring and interpretation experience


  • Power system protection and coordination experience.


  • Strong communication and leadership skills including:


  • Technical report writing,


  • Presentation,


  • Organization, and


  • People skills.





PREFERRED



  • Turbo generator control, operation, and protection (Knowledge and experience with GE, Siemens and ABB machines is an asset):


  • Thorough understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.


  • Ability to evaluate test results to know if data is acceptable or erroneous.


  • Vibration monitoring and interpretation experience (Experience with Bentley Nevada systems is an asset)


  • Power system protection and coordination experience.


  • Field experience with hydrogen cooled machines.


  • Strong communication and leadership skills including:


  • Technical report writing, Presentation, Organization, and People skills.


  • Strong computer skills, which includes proficiency with Microsoft Office.


  • Motivated, self-starter, and problem-solving skills.
