Responsibilities:
Prepare and/or oversee development of drawings, specifications, and submittal schedules.
Work cross-functionally with different teams and organizations
Assist with the manufacture and assembly of unmanned ground vehicles
Innovative mechanical design and rapid prototyping of advanced electro-mechanical systems
Develop simulation and analysis test requirements for thermal management, fluid flow, structural integrity, and high vibration and shock environments
Design validation test development
Design documentation
Technical communication with internal and external customers
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school
5-7 years working as a mechanical engineer.
Experience in the design of electro-mechanical systems using SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or similar 3D solid modeling CAD software. SolidWorks preferred.
Must be able to work within a fast-paced environment, often with evolving requirements.
Preferred
Experience in rapid prototyping utilizing 3D printers, metal and plastic machining, and carbon fiber is desired
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for both structural, vibration, and shock analysis using Ansys or other similar simulation software is desired
Experience in 2D drawing generation from solid model and in interpreting GD&T and designing using GD&T.
Experience in hybrid automotive powertrains and vehicle design
Experience interfacing and communicating with customers (preferably Government or DoD)
Field test experience
Experience working with machine shops to fabricate mechanical assemblies.
