Responsibilities

The control technician is an advanced system specialist that has the same core knowledge of a maintenance technician with a specialty in advanced control systems. The control technician should be capable of advanced troubleshooting resulting in the resolution of complex control system repairs.

Perform advanced troubleshooting tasks for complex building systems such as variable speed drive replacement, machine specific controllers repair or replacement, air compressors controls, boiler controls, heat exchangers, fume hoods, lab controls, and chiller controls.

Perform network diagnostics for FLN and BLN Ethernet and other communication systems. Must be able to set up TECs on BACNet, P1, ModBus, KNX and other networks used in the control systems.

Perform all tasks as described in the Maintenance Technician position description including basic mechanical, electrical, control, and plumbing tasks.

Perform calibrations for sensors, controllers, flow meters, and other measurement devices.

Coordinate with the Siemens onsite support technician to identify and repair components causing system faults. Coordinate with the energy engineer and other FSU team members to resolve complex system problems.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience; or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years. Technical or vocational degree in plumbing, electrical work, HVAC or other trade, may substitute for experience.

• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of equipment and machinery used in area of work.


• Knowledge of the practices and the ability to perform skilled carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other related trades work.


• Computer experience including Microsoft Office Suite.


• Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.


• Ability to utilize technical skills.


• Ability to utilize problem solving skills.


• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.


• Knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment, and materials used in area of work.


• Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.


• Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.


• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.


• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


• A valid State of Florida Class E, Georgia driver's license, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
