The Research Specialist I will perform complex research techniques & procedures on grant-supported projects and conduct experiments using behavioral, electrophysiological, and neurochemical techniques. Occasional evening or weekend work will be required. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Psychology, Chemistry, or related scientific field, a record of strong communication and writing skills, experience with in vivo approaches (e.g., surgical techniques, behavioral analyses, tissue dissection, electrophysiology etc.). Preference will be given to highly motivated individuals with demonstrated ability to conduct research with rigorous record keeping and enthusiasm to take an active role in shaping the research program. This position is established in support of expanded research activities and is at least a one-year commitment. The candidate is expected to demonstrate commitment to professional business conduct, including adherence to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or high school diploma and 4 years related research experience.
Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Chemistry or a related field.
The individual must be highly motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team.
Experience handling rodents (rats and/or mice), experience with rodent surgeries and perfusion, behavioral analyses, tissue dissection, electrophysiology, neurochemical assays, etc.
Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations. English speaking/writing skills required.
Conducting experiments with rodents, analyzing experimental data, orderly record keeping.
