Purpose of Position
The School of Graduate Studies is hiring a graduate student to assist with building services, programs, and events. This position is located at the Gershman Graduate Center and provides operations assistance to ensure the daily event and general operations of the GGC run smoothly. This role also provides administrative, programs, communications, and event support for graduate activities coordinated by the School of Graduate Studies.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesBuilding & Information Services
Regulate and monitor service, safety, and security of the Gershman Graduate Center by walking building rounds, responding to issues, questions, and completing reports.
Responsible for building event set-ups/tear downs and assisting guests with technical requirements, furniture, and equipment.
Maintain coffee machine and keep a clean and neat appearance of lounge, meeting rooms, hallways, and storage areas.
Maintain a welcoming and approachable environment for users of the Gershman Graduate Center by providing superior service to guests in person, email and phone conversations.
Maintain knowledge of Graduate School website, campus services and resources to serve as the primary receptionist for incoming questions from graduate students and other guests.
Maintain knowledge of building, event, and reservation policies and communicates to guests as needed. Host tours of the Gershman Graduate Center.
Execute emergency procedures (such as building evacuations and medical emergencies).
Program and Event Support
Provide administrative assistance and event day support for graduate activities coordinated by the School of Graduate Studies and/or Gershman Graduate Center activities.
Assist with program development, planning, facilitating, and executing graduate-related events and activities.
Assist with ongoing communication plans, special event planning, marketing and promotional mailings and calendar of events updates.

Minimum Requirements
Must be a current UND graduate student
Eligible for a graduate assistantship (in good academic standing and enrolled in 6 credits or more).
At least one year experience providing excellent customer service in a professional setting, including internships.
During the fall and spring semesters, the candidate will need to be available to work 4pm to 9pm for a total of 10 hours per week.
Schedule is based on event and operational needs; some morning/afternoon/weekend hours may arise especially during training period. Willingness and flexibility to adjust schedule to work major graduate school events is critical to this position.
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
