Job Description Summary
The Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center and Institute for Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolism is seeking a full time Clinical Research Coordinator A to coordinate the Type 1 Diabetes Exchange Quality Improvement (T1DX-QI) Collaborative and clinical trials of investigational drugs and devices for the treatment of type 1 diabetes. The T1DX-QI Collaborative is a national consortium of 40 adult and pediatric endocrinology clinics providing specialized diabetes care with the shared goal of improving outcomes for the entire type 1 diabetes population through driving real-world evidence and collaborative change. Interventions done by the T1DX-QI Collaborative include projects to discover, translate, implement, and scale new strategies for diabetes care delivery with Penn Medicine, and will account for 25% of the effort expended in this position. The other 75% effort expended in this position will be to support a patient-oriented research program as the primary clinical research coordinator for 1-3 clinical research studies in diabetes related investigations.

Job Responsibilities
This individual will work under general supervision by Dr. Lorincz and other members of the QI team in the Rodebaugh Diabetes Center for 25% effort. The person will 1) maintain, analyze, and submit monthly outcomes data reports to the Collaborative; 2) assist in coordinating multiple QI projects, including obtaining information from other collaborating sites, completing project tasks, ensuring other team members are meeting targets, and uploading PDSA cycles into the Collaborative database 3) analyze QI project data and prepare reports for review by members of the QI team 4) strategize about future priorities with members of the QI team and patients and implement other activities as assigned. This individual will join an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, social work, administrators, and support personnel with deep experience in their fields. This is an ideal position for an individual seeking experience in health care quality improvement, coordinating projects across a national collaborative, and developing and implementing innovative clinical care models.
This individual will work under general supervision by Dr. Rickels and other members of the Institute for Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolism Translational Research Program for 75% effort. This individual will play a major role in recruitment for team clinical trials. The individual will use the QI collaborative for support of program-wide clinical research priorities. This individual will use the QI collaborative to enhance clinical trial recruitment, participation and retention Duties as outlined above will be distributed across the coordination of 1-3 clinical studies in patient-oriented diabetes research, including mechanistic, phase 1, phase 2, phase 3, and evaluative clinical investigation. This individual will join an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, coordinators, and support personnel with deep experience in the conduct of state-of-the-art clinical research that is at the leading edge of developments in the field of diabetes.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Preferred:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to problem solve and identify and utilize available resources.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently and coordinate project inputs and stakeholders; strong interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders; proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Knowledge of electronic data capture (e.g., REDCap), content management and collaboration (e.g., Box, Smartsheet), and design (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop).
Population health, health services or clinical research experience in a clinical or academic setting.
