Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the planning, ordering, receiving and shipping functions of production and non-production materials, in support of Sunrise product manufacturing/distribution, at the Sunrise Nashville facility. In coordination and alignment with global strategic purchasing policy and initiatives, maintain sufficient inventory to support forecasted and actual demand for all product lines as required.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define, develop and implement a Nashville production material stocking and replenishment process, capable of supporting forecasted and actual customer demand through optimization of material availability, inventory and transportation.
  • Utilize the SIOP demand plan data as well as recent actual demand along with current customer, supplier and transportation lead-times to optimize material availability while reducing excess and obsolescence of slower moving materials.
  • Manage and supervise the activities of materials, receiving, warehouse and shipping associates at the Nashville facility. Consult with Nashville manufacturing leadership to ensure receiving, warehouse and shipping personnel are available to support scheduled manufacturing.
  • Ensure that all corporate, departmental and facility specific policies, procedures and training are followed with appropriate documentation, and in accordance with established US, Global or regulatory requirements. Represent the US Materials organization in internal, 3rd party and FDA audits as required.
  • In cooperation with Sunrise NA Logistics, train, monitor and enforce compliance with all C-TPAT (Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) activities regarding, controlled facility access, cargo/equipment inspection and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate and align with NA Strategic Purchasing and Logistics teams to identify and create sourcing, transportation and material ordering synergies for foreign and domestic transportation consolidations in support of Nashville manufacturing operations.
  • Manage PFEP (Plan For Every Part) activities to ensure material is flowing through the facility in a timely manner.
  • Based on the AOP (Annual Operating Plan), develop and manage departmental budgets and inventory plans to support forecasted volumes, revenues and timing of existing and new products for the Nashville facility.
  • Plan and oversee Nashville facility physical inventory activities as scheduled/directed from corporate finance. Manage the E&O (Excess and Obsolescence) inventory in through inter-facility balancing as well as intercompany transfers to Sunrise facilities in other regions.
  • Provide performance reviews for all direct reports and constructive input for functional or indirect reports. Take corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate efforts with members of the Management Team, and Commodity Managers to ensure shared goals and expectations are met.
  • In alignment with Nashville manufacturing leadership, identify and implement process improvements that will increase overall production and cost efficiencies while improving OTS.
  • In coordination with Strategic Purchasing, develop and maintain local supplier relationships to ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials. Monitor supplier performance and provide relevant data to both supplier and Strategic Purchasing leads regarding corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead projects or initiatives with urgency and flexibility to ensure their smooth and timely completion.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, materials management or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of materials and/or purchasing experience. Two (2) to three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience working with SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning), quality systems, ISO, Kanban system and lean manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated, expert level user experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP system, specifically in the materials planning/MRP functionalities highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with FDA, C-TPAT regulations and medical device manufacturing preferred.
  • Receipt of NAPM Certificate as Purchasing Manager (CPM), or APICS Certification in Production Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus.
