Cement Tanker Driver

Location: Plant 11: Katy, Texas 77449

COMPENSATION

Hourly Rate: $20.60 /hr

Alleyton Resource is seeking a qualified Slurry/Pneumatic Driver. There are several locations in the Houston Area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This skilled position involves the safe and efficient operation of bulk wet and or dry cement materials. Drivers will deliver materials to locations both residential and commercial, including internal silos to support Ready Mix, Stabilized, and Slurry Plants.

This position requires management resources to adhere to company standards, policies, and procedures and comply with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, MSHA, TCEQ, etc.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Delivery:

• Thorough operational knowledge and skills of tank trailers and related equipment to be operated.
• Can operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Must keep time and material records.
• Must follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must have maneuvering and backing skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively on the radio system.
• Connect and disconnect to trailers safely and efficiently.

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and reports vehicle condition at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Checks all vehicle fluid levels daily and adds fluids as necessary.
• Fuels vehicle as necessary.
• Maintains vehicle cleanliness throughout the day.
• Occasionally, a chipping hammer is used to remove excess concrete buildup.
• Performs minor repairs and assists mechanics in vehicle repairs.

Safety:

• Comply with safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.
• Report all unsafe conditions promptly.
• Offer suggestions for accident prevention.
• Serve on Safety Committees as requested.

Other:

• Takes customer order changes in the field and reports same to dispatch.
• Maintains Driver's Daily Logs.
• Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Educational requirement can be waived instead of work experience.). Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and Tanker Endorsement, or obtain required endorsements. Ability to provide high standards of customer service. Ability to clean all areas on the vehicle and climb a ladder to inspect loads. Satisfactory work attendance record.

Other Requirements

Must be willing to work nights, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
