Job Title: VP, Internal Audit

Department: Finance

Position Overview:

The Vice President, Internal Audit will be responsible for Insulet's internal audit function, including enterprise risk management ("ERM"). Internal Audit helps Insulet achieve its business objectives by bringing a systemic and disciplined approach to evaluating the effectiveness of Insulet's governance, risk management, compliance, and control practices. The Vice President, Internal Audit will have primary responsibility for carrying out the mission of internal audit to enhance and protect organizational value and help improve Insulet's business operations by providing risk-based, independent, and objective assurance, advice, and insight. The VP, Internal Audit will also provide independent assurance that a sound internal control environment exists, to support the growth of the business.

The Vice President reports functionally to the Audit Committee of Insulet's Board of Directors and administratively to the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:


  • Set the vision and strategy for the Internal Audit function.

  • Develop and oversee the strategic planning of the annual work plan for the audit department.

  • Lead the execution and continued development of an effective standardized company-wide risk governance framework and methodology

  • Manage and maintain Enterprise Risk Governance policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Mature and oversee the ERM program to identify, assess, respond, monitor, and report on risks on an ongoing basis

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify organizational risks and align audit resources with high-risk areas.

  • Create and organizational risk-aware culture by providing outreach, training, and support to various levels of employees. Improve risk awareness among senior management to cultivate a risk-aware culture at all levels where risk is discussed, understood and managed.

  • Lead in-depth reviews including quantitative and qualitative analysis, to identify emerging risks, root causes, interdependencies, risk trajectories and related findings to determine areas that require focus. Offer written and oral recommendations for actions to address issues or problems uncovered by fact-finding and analysis efforts.

  • Consult with leadership on the development of policies, procedures and systems.

  • Ensure all team members develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company's business operations, systems, policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with senior management to identify and mitigate risks, improve controls and optimize operational efficiency,

  • Prepare and present and entity-wide risk assessment to use as the basis for the annual audit plan.

  • Develop and execute the internal audit program that addresses key financial and operational risks.

  • Oversee the execution, completion and review of audit fieldwork and Sox 404 testing and the recommendation of control and operational improvements.

  • Coordinate with leadership and external auditor regarding audit plans, activities and findings.

  • Review audit reports and communicate status and results of audits and internal investigations to management and the audit committee.

  • Review actions taken by management to remediate audit findings.

  • Oversee the execution of special assignments as needed, such as investigations of suspected non-compliance, improprieties, or fraud.

  • Oversee and manage the internal audit budget and resource plan.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the audit team and across the organization.

  • Ensure internal audit compliance with professional standards and practices and stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes that may impact the company's audit activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:


  • BA/BS required; in Accounting or Finance preferred

  • MBA, MSA, JD or other relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Information Systems Auditor required

  • 15+ years of business experience, including audit, risk management, consulting and/or management experience

  • 5+ years of relevant medical device industry experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of accounting standards (U.S. GAAP) and practices, financial reporting, COSO internal control framework, PCAOB and IIA Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

  • Strong technical internal audit skills, including IT audit and knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and related financial control requirements.

  • Strong understanding of risk management practices, including the lifecycle of risk identification, treatment, mitigation, acceptance, remediation as well as inherent and residual risks. Solid knowledge of governance, risk management and compliance program frameworks.

  • Experience leading ERM programs with oversight responsibilities for cybersecurity, operational, and compliance/regulatory risks

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and drive results.

  • Ability to interact collaboratively, yet objectively across all functions and with senior management.

  • Working knowledge of major business processes and compliance/risk issues related to the medical device industry.

  • Ability to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations and identify issues and root causes.

  • Passion to continuously help improve operations and enhance shareholder value.

  • Exceptional writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $221,680.00 - $321,437.50. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
