• Provides immediate supervision to all radiology personnel assigned in ED White 1 Emergency Imaging


• Ensures quality and quantity of work done by unit members; prepares daily work assignments. Reassigns personnel as required


• Responsible for communicating and implementing new changes and training of others in policy and procedural changes


• Assures proper completion of records by technologist for billing and dictating purposes and oversees shift workflow


• Communicates and coordinates with supervisor/resource tech of previous and next shift regarding equipment problems, waiting patients and other like information. May need to contact service personnel for equipment repairs


• Ensures proper stock of all supplies, including film printer, linens and contents of emergency code carts while on duty


• Functions as a liaison between physicians and support staff, explaining Department procedures, resolving problems and coordinating activities which affect patient care


• Ensures all information regarding procedural or operational changes in the Unit is communicated to appropriate Department and Hospital personnel


• Completes annual performance evaluations


• Ensures staff is trained appropriately and tracks progress of competence based training and continuing education documentation


• Works closely with the Radiology Image Service Center and acts as liaison for and supervises teleradiology personnel.


• Prepares shift report for senior management on all aspects of Unit operations as appropriate or as requested, documenting any issues that arise


• Performs quality assurance audits by documenting data and working with technologist and radiologist to maintain excellent image quality


• Performs image QA in accordance with department procedure


• Troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions and notify vendor service personnel of equipment failure.


• Ensure that all Unit, Department, Hospital and JC guidelines are met, as well as, keep staff up to date on any changes in compliance


• Performs the duties of a radiologic technologist as needed


• Work with managers of other modalities to make process improvements that streamline interdepartmental workflow


• Coordinates and monitors patient flow to expedite imaging examinations to ensure efficient work flow


• Recommends policy and procedural changes; communicates, implements, interprets and enforces approved imaging policies


• Maintains imaging quality control


• Inspects imaging equipment for safety issues


• Reviews images for technical quality


• Inspects imaging areas to ensure adherence to infection control regulations


• Ensures adequate levels of supplies


• Organizes and maintains staffing schedules



Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required in addition to a satisfactory completion of an AMA approved radiography training program


• Must be certified by the ARRT and must possess a valid license to practice as a radiologic technologist in the state of Massachusetts.


• CPR certification


• Should possess 3 - 5 years of related experience


• Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills required


• Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent computer skills
