General Summary/ Overview:
The Cloud Platform team is responsible for the Architecture, Engineering, and Operations of all things Cloud. Working closely with the Cloud COE to coordinate the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of all IT Service Management processes and functions in the Cloud for all sites and organizations within Mass General Brigham.


Under the direction of the Solutions Architecture Manager, the Senior Cloud Engineer will work closely with the Cloud COE, Service Now Team, the Cyber Security Team, the Governance/Risk/Compliance teams, and other IT Service Owners to understand the day-to-day operations of the fast-paced Enterprise IT Organization with the goal of fully capitalizing on and realizing the capabilities of the different Cloud platforms. The engineer will work to deliver new functionality and maintains updates to Cloud services across all supported Clouds. This position will require out-of-the-box thinking, effective decision-making, collaboration, diligence, and ownership to overcome obstacles and achieve team success.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities:



• Analyzing new and existing public cloud services and create solutions that meet client requirements and standards


• Owning the end-to-end delivery of solutions which will include developing, testing, and releasing Infrastructure as Code


• Contributing to the refinement of technical requirements


• Designing and implementing secure, scalable, and innovative solutions to meet client's requirements


• Creating and updating applicable technical documentation


• Help our clients modernize their architecture and core technologies


• Consult on best engineering practices, quality standards and principles


• Mentors and educates junior members of the team in areas of Cloud Engineering and project and process management and documentation.

Working Conditions:



• Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites


• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.


• The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.



Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or greater in Computer Science or a related discipline or 10 years related experience


• 5-10 Years' experience as solutions architect in at least 2x of the 'big-3' clouds: AWS, GCP, Azure


o Solid cloud networking background for Datacenter + Cloud hybrid networks


o Solid cloud network security background for RFC-1918 private network systems


o Solid cloud-native "infrastructure as code" automation


§ Plus, would be cloud-agnostic experience with Terraform


• 5-10 Years' experience as Kubernetes systems architect


o Datacenter + Cloud hybrid experience using Tanzu, Rancher, Anthos, etc


o Kubernetes experience with CNI's such as Flannel, Weave, Calico, etc


o Kubernetes experience with CSI's from vendors such as Dell, RedHat


o Kubernetes experience with CRD's from vendor solutions ranging from opensource products like Elasticsearch to private CRD's from companies like Dell, Snyk, etc


o Kubernetes experience with mixed-OS deployment models where containers running Windows and containers running Linux exist in the same cluster


o Kubernetes experience with fully private clusters and private control-planes


• 3-5x years software experience writing either python, go, elixir, C#, etc


o Backend automation


o CI/CD automation


o Interest in unit-test coverage and automated integration test-suites is a plus


• ITIL Certification a strong plus


• Cloud Certification(s)


• A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements

• Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization


• Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds an levels within and external to the organization


• Strong problem solving and negotiation skills


• Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal


• Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly
