Position Summary:

The Production Shift Supervisor will manage hourly production employees and oversee the shift-to-shift operations of the Canton, Ingot facility. This individual will be heavily involved in trouble shooting and problem-solving equipment issues (including but not limited to, Plasma ARC Melt, Electron Beam, and VAR furnaces, Blend Machinery).

Essential Functions:


  • Direct and supervise a crew of hourly production employees.
  • Measure machine performance using the established Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Direct, organize and plan all production activities during a scheduled shift.
  • Work closely with facility management to ensure safe, productive and efficient production.
  • Coordinate assigned projects related to production processes and production employees.
  • Increase up time on all equipment by managing preventative maintenance, total productive maintenance, general maintenance, and maintenance of critical spare parts.
  • Participate in and/or assist with all Continuous Improvement activities and events as well 5S/Housekeeping.
  • Develop and recommend improvements to facilities, equipment, or procedures that will improve safety, quality, or productivity.
  • Complete all required paperwork for production, safety and payroll.
  • Ensure employees have the proper training and documentation to complete their assigned tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to all quality procedures.
  • Hold employees accountable for workplace violations and issue discipline when appropriate.
  • Coordinate training schedules and maintain training programs for production employees.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated 2 years maintenance trouble shooting and problem solving on vacuum furnaces or similar equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic that includes a good attendance record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Available to work all shifts and weekends / holidays as required.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software; Experience with SAP a plus.
  • Ability to manage people and processes.
  • Ability to make decisions and explain the reasoning behind those decisions.
  • Vocational or undergraduate education in mechanical/electrical systems operations, design, or maintenance is preferred.
