Responsibilities:
Analyze process samples
Test samples using specified instruments and methods
Enter sample results into reporting system
Pick up samples from operating units
Prioritize sample requests
Plot graphs for X-ray and WWT
Operate laboratory instruments and equipment
Run instrument standards
Perform minor maintenance on laboratory equipment
Prepare reagents
Assist R&D with special projects
Identify and respond to nonconforming product
Assist in training lab technicians
Respond to customer inquiries
Perform administrative
Retrieve electronic COAs and forward on request
Review end-of-shift reports
Maintain downgrades and split lot files
Issue daily lot summary
File sample results
Verify that time is entered accurately
Provide input for peer evaluations
Make entries in unit logs
Submit proposed procedure changes to shift leader
Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Maintain a clean and well organized work area
Attend meetings as required
Attend training as required
Complie with all HSSE programs, policies and procedures
Perform special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned
Additional Duties
Calibration
Assure proper operation of all laboratory instruments.
Maintain instrument calibration schedules and associated records
Prepare reagents as required
Troubleshoot analytical problems-distinguishes be sample prep issues and instrument malfunctions
Write, review, and update calibration procedures
Interact with R&D to troubleshoot NIR performance
Order instrument parts as required
Coordinate shipping with manufacturer
Perform routine maintenance on instruments, maintain documentation
Prepare instruments for shipping offsite for repairs
Analyze special environmental samples, maintain related logs
Analyze unit vent gas samples, reports results
Analyze spill materials, documents and archives records
Segregate sample waste, labels for proper disposal
Assist in training technician to perform environment
Analyze and interpret restults
Calibrate and operate laboratory instruments
Run instrument standards
Perform minor maintenance on laboratory equipment
Prepare reagents as required
Assist Wet Lab technicians with unit analyses
Prioritize samples according to unit criticality
Write, review and update laboratory procedures
Monitor lab chemicals and supplies inventory
Interact with HSSE staff regarding limits per operating unit
Qualifications:
Two years post-secondary education in a science discipline with basic chemistry or equivalent experience
Effective oral and written communications skills
Basic math skills
Basic PC skills
