Position Purpose
The University of Central Missouri Dept. of Communication invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Instructor / Assistant Director of Forensics position. This is a full-time, 9-month position.The position’s responsibilities include:
  • Assist the Director of Forensics in managing and coaching the forensics program, including: coaching of both individual events and debate, attendance at and contribution to weekly coaching staff and team meetings, judging and travel to state, regional, national, and international tournaments, and other daily team-related responsibilities.
  • Assist the Director of Forensics in the organization of forensics tournaments, including planning, budgeting, coordinating, and running tournaments at both the high school and college level.
  • Development of relationships with local high schools for recruitment purposes.
  • Contribution to the ongoing success of the university’s BSE – Speech Communication & Theatre degree program.
  • Assist in the mentorship and supervision of graduate assistant coaches.
  • Instruction of 4/4 course load (with a one-quarter release time allocated to direction of forensics each semester), teaching courses in the Communication Program, including Public Speaking, Communication in Practice, Interpersonal Communication, and others as needed.
  • Service on program, department, college, and university committees as needed.

Experience
At least two years of experience in direction of college or high school forensics; experience leading/coaching comprehensive programs, including Individual Events and various formats of debate (IPDA, TIPDA, BP); evidence of excellence in teaching.
