We are looking for a talented Field Technician who will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper installation, setup, and troubleshooting of custom environmentally controlled test systems and chambers. These custom units encompass psychrometric rooms, reach-in and walk-in chambers, calorimeters, and various environmental conditioning systems. In this position, you will work with cutting-edge technology and be responsible for maintaining the integrity of these custom environments, ensuring they operate optimally, and providing solutions to any technical issues that may arise.
Main Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
Install and configure custom environmentally controlled equipment, including reach-in chambers, psychrometric rooms, calorimeters, and other environmental conditioning systems, at customer sites
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure installations meet design specifications for each unit
Perform system checks and verification to guarantee accurate setup tailored to each specific unit
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to HVAC-controlled environments, such as temperature, humidity, and pressure control systems, specific to each unit type
Identify and address malfunctions, equipment failures, and deviations from desired environmental conditions within each custom system
Implement corrective actions to restore systems to optimal performance, taking into consideration the specialized requirements of each unit
Maintenance and Calibration:
Conduct routine HVAC equipment maintenance to ensure its longevity and performance
Calibrate sensors and control devices including temperature, pressure, and other sensors
Document maintenance activities and update service records with strong attention to detail
Technical Support:
Provide specialized technical support to customers, answering their inquiries and resolving issues promptly, taking into account the distinct characteristics of their custom systems
Offer guidance and recommendations for system improvements or upgrades that align with the unique features of each system
Collaborate with the engineering team to escalate and resolve complex issues specific to each unit being supported
Quality Control:
Conduct regular quality control assessments to ensure custom environmental control systems comply with industry standards and regulations for each unit category
Monitor system performance to identify deviations and deviations from set parameters, considering the specialized conditions of each unit
Take corrective actions to maintain the highest levels of quality and consistency, tailored to the requirements of the individual systems
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of installations, service activities, and maintenance tasks
Generate reports detailing findings, solutions implemented, and recommendations for future improvements
Create user manuals and instructional materials for customers, tailored to the operation of their unique custom units
Qualifications:
2-year college or trade school in HVAC and refrigeration systems
3 to 5 years of applicable work experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment
Working knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems ideally including screw compressors and cascade refrigeration equipment
Experience with humidification systems including pressurized steam boilers
Organized, detail-oriented, logical, and methodical troubleshooter, disciplined approach to problem-solving, committed to safety
Self-sufficient and self-starting
Ability to navigate travel and planning as needed
Adaptable to changing work requirements and work site conditions
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles
Ability to work off-shift hours for urgent equipment requests
Physical Requirements:
This position is located in a testing environment and involves hands-on work. Physical activity will include lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity or standing for long periods of time.

Ability to travel up to 80% domestically
