Coastal Forest Products, a wholesale supplier of wood and composite building products to retail lumberyards throughout New England, is currently adding another dedicated CAD Plan Designer to support our growing Engineered Wood Products (EWP) department.

This position is primarily responsible to provide technical support and plan design specifications for our established customer base. Additionally, this position will effectively and efficiently manage assigned design projects while promoting additional company products. The ideal candidate will have an overall understanding of construction and potential impacts to a project's structural design.

Job Responsibilities

Responds to plan design / framing layout inquiries from local retail lumber yards.

Creates structural framing layouts and performs plan takeoffs for commercial and residential projects.

Interacts with retail customers, alongside contractors regarding product / technical questions.

Ensures plan designs / framing layouts are supplied within designated project timelines.

Calculates the engineered wood products for the assigned project.

Communicates and collaborates with both internal / external individuals.

Represents Coastal in a professional manner and builds collaborative relationships with customers.

Required Qualifications & Experience

General understanding of building construction

Proficiency with CAD software and ability to read / understand blueprints

Detail-focused with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

Ability to be held accountable for results

Strong communication skills and ability to understand customer's needs

Follows written and oral instructions

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to strongly work in a team atmosphere

Legally permitted to work in the United States

Adaptable and willing to assume additional responsibilities

Education

College degree or equivalent job / field related work experience
