Teen Engineering & Tech Center (TETC) Career Pathways Coach

The ExxonMobil Foundation established the Teen Engineering & Tech Centers to provide underserved youth with quality, hands-on STEM learning opportunities. Job Summary:

As a Career Pathways Coach at the TETC, you will play a pivotal role in increasing the interest of teens from underserved communities in engineering. You will provide comprehensive support to students, guiding them through career exploration, college applications, financial aid, and connecting them with valuable resources and opportunities. The position entails creating and facilitating workshops, monitoring student progress, managing apprenticeships, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders.

Primary Job Functions:
  • Facilitate career pathways workshops for 9th-12th grade students at TETC.
  • Monitor student progress and provide support to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Identify and address barriers to student retention, completion, and success.
  • Manage apprenticeships and internships with ExxonMobil and other companies.
  • Oversee college application and scholarship programming for participants.
  • Maintain high-level relationships with schools, districts, counselors, parents, and higher education institutions.
  • Coordinate external STEM opportunities to broaden participant exposure.

Job Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in supporting first-generation, low-income students.
  • Effective college and career readiness advising skills.
  • Exceptional student service commitment.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural, socioeconomic, and regional diversities.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Entrepreneurial experience in educational start-ups beneficial.
  • 3-5 years of experience in college and career counseling in a high school or nonprofit setting.
  • Familiarity with financial aid and FAFSA.
