Essential Functions and Objectives:
Manage and work with respective teams to implement policies, procedures, programs and initiatives that pertain to school counseling. Set clear goals, organize work plans, and divide work accordingly. Assure adherence to daily operational items, such as budgets, schedules and performance.

- Leads for equity toward college and career readiness, a culture of empowerment, continuous improvement and celebration.
- Leads for the academic and social-emotional success of diverse student populations with a particular emphasis on the needs of historically marginalized students.
- Sets clear annual goals aligned to the strategic plan with measurable interim benchmarks.
- Evaluates counselor progress towards goals and considers impact across functions, in both rubric and rigorous SLOs.
- Motivates employees and engages them in a common mindset and messages.
Operational and Organizational: Direct management. Applies deep knowledge in content and process. Drives improvements.
- Applies staff performance management systems in a way that ensures a culture of continuous improvement, support and accountability.
- Delivers results towards established goals through direct management of 3+ school counselors.
- Identifies and measures meaningful outcomes and ensures team delivers against expectations for customer service excellence.
- Aligns counselors and resources to achieve results, improve practices.
- Completes required evaluation for state or federal entities.
People and Culture: Improves team performance. Builds high performing teams. Ensures conflict is productive.
- Improves performance through coaching, feedback, training, and stretch opportunities for each school counselor.
- Engages in effective performance management practices, including collaboration with building leadership.
- Demonstrates empathy and builds trust into team culture.
Community and Equity: Solicits diverse perspectives. Creates connections. Ensures equity.
- Ensures decisions and actions actively address equity within each school.
- Builds strong collaborative relationships across DPS schools, counselors, and district departments.
- Regularly solicits diverse points of view to dismantle white supremacy cultures.
- Actively advocates for members of the school community and effectively engages family and community.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of school counseling experience.
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.
- Current license in School Counseling from the Colorado Department of Education.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
- Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.
- Ability to develop and interpret data and manage resources.
- Ability to motivate and influence others.
- Ability to effectively lead a team.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.
- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.
- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with site staff and diverse student population.
- Ability to monitor and supervise assigned student activity for sustained periods of time to anticipate and maintain a safe environment.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
Education Requirements:
- Master's Degree in School Counseling - Required
- School Counseling License - Required
