Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of designs, contract documents, and cost estimates, as well as manage correspondence with agencies and client relations for diverse projects such as commercial, residential, industrial, educational, and public facilities.
  • Direct and mentor an engineering team, fostering their growth and ensuring departmental success.
  • Drive business development efforts, engaging with the community to expand the firm's reach and collaborating with corporate business development managers.
  • Prioritize client satisfaction by delivering timely, budget-conscious designs through effective communication and project management.
  • Oversee quality control of construction documents and designs, including site layouts, grading, utilities, and stormwater management.
  • Manage permitting processes and liaise with regulatory authorities.
  • Handle project proposals, contracts, scheduling, budgets, and invoicing.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills when engaging with staff, clients, regulatory bodies, and the public.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer Registration required (preference for North Carolina and South Carolina).
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering design and project management experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with shifting priorities and multiple clients.
  • Proficiency in land development, site planning, grading design, and construction document preparation.
  • Skilled in coordinating tasks with other department managers, engineers, surveyors, and planners.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and managing project teams.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and design software preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for business development and financial management.
  • Knowledge of jurisdictional codes, standards, and technical specifications.
  • Proficient in developing construction details and implementing QA/QC protocols.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience presenting to boards, commissions, or councils preferred.
  • Ability to pass drug screening, background checks, and maintain a satisfactory driving record as per company policy.
