About rhiz?ma

rhiz?ma is a dynamic storytelling and learning platform, where EMA Foundation shares compelling stories and resources related to the work of our funding partners. rhiz?ma aims to build community by reshaping and amplifying a diverse collection of narratives spanning arts, culture, identity, education, humanitarianism, and philanthropic efforts worldwide. Community members will be able to access and engage with a variety of blog posts, articles, films, panel discussions, live events, interactive courses, and opportunities for peer-to-peer connection.

About the Role

EMA Foundation is seeking an intern to join our team this summer and provide collaborative support for the foundation's fundraising and development strategy. The intern will gain valuable experience in donor outreach, fundraising initiatives, and non-profit development planning.

As the Development Internship is a remote position, a computer and consistent access to the internet are required. The internship will last 10 weeks and the expected time commitment is 20-25 hours per week. Although flexible and subject to change, the anticipated start date is June 3, 2024 and the end date is August 9, 2024.

Primary responsibilities of the position may include, but are not limited to:
  • Engaging in carrying out EMA Foundations major fundraising targets as well as providing support to partner organization' fundraising campaigns
  • Supporting the Donor Relations lead with the stewardship, cultivation, and provision of research support necessary to engage prospective donors
  • Furthering the fundraising goals of EMA Foundation by building relationships with individuals and organizations to secure external funding sources through development of coordinated outreach strategy that includes, but is not limited to, cold emailing, intro calls, presentation of pitch deck, and LinkedIn messaging
  • Producing materials for donor acknowledgement and communication
  • Assisting in the management of Hubspot CRM and oversight of donor records
  • Responding to donor emails and all other donation related inquiries
  • Completing professional development modules and activities when advised

Interested applicants should have a developed interest in fundraising, development, communications, and philanthropy. Additional qualifications include:
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Experience designing and executing fundraising campaigns or willingness to learn
  • Comfortable communicating with stakeholders of various backgrounds
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Hubspot CRM or willingness to learn
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to work both synchronously and asynchronously

Embedded in our organizational ethos is the empowerment of young people which extends to our commitment to providing all employees with a livable wage. Interns will be compensated with a stipend of $5,000, less applicable taxes, disbursed bi-weekly throughout the summer.
