What You Will Contribute:




As an in-house corporate paralegal, you will be responsible for providing legal assistance and support to the Legal Department on a wide range of legal topics, such as business contracts, disputes/litigation, corporate governance, compliance with global laws and regulations, insurance claims, and a variety of other areas of legal department services as necessary. You may be asked to gather information, conduct legal research, draft and review documents, and coordinate with outside counsel and internal parties when necessary. Additional duties may include being involved in the preparation of policies, procedures, reports, department and board presentations, enterprise risk assistance and compliance plans.



Job Duties:



  • Aid the legal department in the drafting, reviewing, execution, retention, and lifecycle management of contracts, NDAs, and other legal forms, memos, and agreements essential to the business


  • Oversee and control the contract and matter management database for the company, including review and summarization of key terms and conditions


  • Manage the administration of the legal department as it relates to on-boarding outside law firms, managing the department's outside service provider billing approval system, and ensuring compliance with company requirements


  • Administering Badger Meter's third-party criminal background checks, including use of specialized software


  • Assist in gathering and maintaining third-party certifications such as certificates of insurance for parties doing business with Badger Meter and management of insurance claims and policies


  • Support corporate governance requirements and tasks for a public company and its subsidiaries


  • Assist in-house legal department with regard to special legal projects and other tasks and duties as assigned





Education and Experience:



  • Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field required; Bachelors degree preferred


  • 10+ years of experience in a paralegal role with preference for in-house experience desired





Qualifications:



  • Highly trained or advanced skills in technical resources including: Thomson Reuters products (Legal Tracker, HighQ, Westlaw, Practical Law, etc.), Office 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, Adobe Sign, General Software acumen required


  • Strong self-belief, confident in explaining decisions whilst overcoming barriers to implementation


  • Strong writing skills, superior organizational skills, ability to multi-task and effectively balance multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
