DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Manager to oversee water and wastewater Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services. In this role, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring their successful completion within scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. **Position will be located in Fort Lauderdale

RESPONSILBILITIES INCLUDE:


  • Project Planning and Coordination:

    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope of work, schedules, and budgets.
    • Coordinate with clients, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment with project goals and requirements.
    • Conduct regular project meetings to review progress, address issues, and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.

  • Construction Oversight:

    • Provide on-site supervision and oversight of construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to identify and address any deviations or deficiencies promptly.
    • Manage change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation in a timely and organized manner.

  • Budget and Cost Management:

    • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, identifying potential cost overruns and implementing cost-saving measures as necessary.
    • Review and approve invoices, subcontractor payments, and other financial documentation related to the projects

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project outcomes.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among project team members and subcontractors.

  • .Client Relations and Business Development:

    • Cultivate strong relationships with clients through regular communication, responsiveness to their needs, and delivering exceptional service.
    • Identify opportunities for additional services and participate in business development activities to expand the firm's client base and revenue streams.

  • Responsible for coordination and overseeing the repetitive and routine sampling and testing of component materials for highway and roadway construction projects in accordance with the construction contract documents.
  • Be familiar with lab and field procedures for the following CEI services: Inspection and density testing of roadway earthwork, subgrade, base materials, and asphalt wearing surfaces.
  • Supervise concrete inspection activities including but not limited to placement of RCP pipe, MSE walls, barriers walls, and bridge deck construction.
  • Monitor bridge foundation inspections and vibration monitoring on surrounding structures.
  • Ensure all testing and inspections are in compliance with project specifications.
  • Be able to perform quality assurance to verify actual to contracted service, materials, and construction.
  • Be able to provide technical guidance regarding construction matters to project stakeholders.
  • Maintain project records.
  • Must be able to interpret construction plans, details, standards, and specifications.
  • Monitor project safety and compliance with OSHA regulations

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Prior working experience with CoFL Public Works Dept., Broward County, and the Port, preferred as well as working on Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water utility projects, preferred.
  • Project experience includes waterline transite pipe, sanitary sewer systems, earthwork, asphalt paving, concrete paving, storm drain systems, retaining walls, bridge elements, traffic control, SW3P, and other items related to utilities, highway and bridge construction
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and able to pass an annual motor vehicle record check.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office programs including Word and Excel. Enter data rapidly and accurately and operate tools and equipment.
  • Willing to travel within State borders for short- or long-term assignments if needed.
