Description REVISION DATE: April 10, 2024 CLASSIFICATION: PT (Non-Benefits Eligible) REPORTS TO: Director of Campus Recreation /Assistant Director of Recreational Sports JOB PURPOSE: The Soccer Coach for Club Sports will provide sport supervision, mentorship, and competitive decision-making for the student members of the University of Lynchburg Club Soccer Team, which is a student-led organization. Weeks will vary depending on game schedule and traveling, and can range from 2-3 hours a week to 5-8 hours a week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Club Sports Program
Hold tryouts alongside the club's officers to determine team roster Oversee and plan weekly practices for team Educate players on the fundamentals of the sport Encourage ownership of the team by club members, as each club is a student-led organization
Team Management
Work with the officers of the club to organize the team and their responsibilities Meet with the Campus Recreation department often to discuss performance of the club
Transport
Help to transport team to games and tournaments that are away from University of Lynchburg campus Serve as chaperone for trips to help guide students on away trips
Physical Training
Provide encouragement to club members to train outside of practice times Understanding of athletic focus and practices needed to safely lead a team
EQUIPMENT USED: University administered vehicles, Soccer equipment, fitness equipment (when in fitness centers) ORAL OR WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS: Excellent written and communication skills required. WORKING CONDITIONS: The functions of this position are a mix of sitting and some significant amounts of walking or standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting or carrying may be required. As schedules for programs and events may occur after 5 p.m. and on weekends, schedules will be adjusted accordingly.
Must have a valid driver's license and means of communication (i.e., phone, computer, email).Qualifications MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
2-3 Years Coaching Soccer at a competitive level Experience working with College Students
USSF (United States Soccer Federation) A, B, C, D licensure or
USC (United Soccer Coaches) Premier, Advanced National or National Diploma preferred
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, or related field preferred.
