The Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track 1.0 FTE Lecturer position for Academic Year 2024-2025. The appointment may be renewed. Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate, liberal arts education.


Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses that contribute to the Concentration in Crime and Criminal Justice within the Sociology major, the university-wide minor in Law and Society, and the Sociology curriculum generally. Ph.D. in Sociology or a related area with a sociology background required.

The Department
UVM's Department of Sociology is an undergraduate program consisting of ten faculty members whose research and teaching bring sociological perspectives to the analysis of current social issues. These include social inequality; criminal justice; gender and sexualities; race and ethnicity; health and society; environmental justice; and social responses to disaster.
