Position Description:

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a One Year, Full-Time Instructor beginning fall 2024. Duties for the positions include (1) teaching 12 credit hours per semester (4 courses), (2) maintaining at least 6 on-campus office hours per week, (3) advising students, and (4) providing service to the department and university. The courses that may be assigned include general math for non-majors, intermediate algebra, pre-calculus, calculus and introductory statistics.


The successful candidate should be able to: teach effectively using a variety of instructional techniques, especially those that foster active engagement in class; provide high quality instruction and prepare instructional materials for courses; create appropriate assessments that promote high standards and reflect the quality and level of instruction; work with a diverse group of students; participate in monthly department meetings, and work collaboratively with department colleagues to help maintain a collegial work environment.


Qualifications:

A Master's or PhD degree in Mathematics or a math-related discipline is preferred. A minimum of 18 graduate hours in mathematics is required. Candidates who have prior teaching experience in a college setting will receive special consideration.
