Assistant Supervisor. Machine ShopFac Serv Plant Operations

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

Assists supervisor in the prevention and resolution of code, customer and maintenance related issues through cost effective maintenance practices that improve the reliability of assigned building systems. Performs field safety audits to ensure technicians are following safe work practices and verifies high quality work is being performed in accordance with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards. Assists in the resolution of complex equipment and/or customer service issues. Prepares statement of work, solicits bids, selects best value bid, fills out requisition paperwork, coordinates and administers work for maintenance repairs and replacements performed by a contractor. Performs Welder/Machinist duties as needed to ensure that all welding related jobs are completed properly. Now Responsible for HVAC maintenance of satellite facilities at Uptown campus, including Elmwood and Uptown square. This includes preventive and corrective maintenance of these facilities, and other uptown satellite facilities. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of Uptown life safety generators and assuring that they are all ready for an emergency situation.
This is an "Essential Personnel" position, which can require that the incumbent must report for duty and work through emergencies, and also can be designated by the supervisor as essential for the accomplishment of work, or for the completion of a critical task.

Required Qualifications

* High School Diploma or equivalent* Five years experience in welding, repair, and preventive maintenance of a similar facility.* Must have five years' supervisory or personnel management experience of large diversified work force.* Must have a valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Driver's license and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become authorized as a driver.

Preferred Qualifications

* Trade school or college preferred.* Experience working in an academic environment.
