Job Description:

What you will do:

Participates as a team member in projects as part of the Components Manufacturing Engineering Team. Projects are comprised of molding, assembly, and grid manufacturing. The candidate will provide mechanical equipment design guidance, automation design and SOW as well as plant layout/material flow development. The Components ME will participate on Simultaneous Development Teams and provide the perspective of timing and deliverables for ME. The candidate develops process specifications as well as updates and communicate to Ops, Product Engineering and other functional teams. The qualified candidate will develop PM instructions and spare parts lists for new equipment and equipment targeted for improvement as well as assist Operations with manufacturing issues related to controls and automation.

Primary Duties:


  • Participates as a Components Manufacturing Engineering team member in cross-functional teams assigned to develop new equipment and to develop changes to existing equipment.


  • Act as manufacturing engineering lead in projects that have positive impact on the business objectives. Developing scope, plan, timing, and costs to deliver the desired results.


  • Prepare and present project progress reports with team members, plant supervisors, plant managers, department directors and other appropriate leadership levels at a specified frequency.


  • Seeks out and secures team members and suppliers input and participation on projects.


  • Identifies barriers to project success and leads efforts to eliminate the barriers.


  • Directs implementation of process changes on existing equipment and assists with the development and installation of new assembly area equipment.


  • Corroborates with Safety, Environmental, and Quality Assurance Dept. personnel to ensure that manufacturing processes and production equipment are capable of producing a product that meets all Safety, Environmental, and Quality and Engineering standards.


  • Interaction with plant manufacturing employees, plant maintenance employees and plant leadership in understanding plant focus and barriers to production performance.


  • Performs other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications: 

5 to 10 years of experience in industry preferred.

A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

AutoCAD drafting experience; for layout and material flow.

Demonstrable ability to fluently communicate in the English language.

Required Skills:    

Automation SOW development and execution.

Knowledge of robotic implementation.

Plastics molding knowledge.

Preventative Maintenance implementation.

Other beneficial skills:

Hot Plate and laser welding of plastic parts.

Application of laser and vision part inspection.

Experience with Hydraulics and troubleshooting issues.

Minitab, Six Sigma.

Additional requirements

Travel to various plants throughout the US and Mexico is to be expected. Travel outside of the Florence, KY facility can reach or exceed 30% during peak project implementation phases. Working hours in the plants during project implementation may require other shifts and working days as needed.
