Summary: Oversee barcode personnel and production, work to maximize operator and machine utilization. Respond to down machinery via protocol, oversee repair material and supplies needed for optimal run times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • This position reports directly to and will receive direction from the Superintendent - Secondary Operations. The primary responsibility of the Barcode Supervisor is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties on a daily basis which include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Ensure that operators follow barcode procedures when running production.
  • Ensure all new employees are trained properly and complete all checklists that apply to daily operations.
  • Review all production paperwork and save appropriately.
  • Coordinate product movement between the finished goods warehouse and the barcode department.
  • Oversee setup techs in their daily changeovers and ensure lockout and lockout audits are complete.
  • Complete TSOs (Job Task Safety Observations) weekly.
  • Ensure Safety Training for barcode staff is 100% complete each month.
  • Manage quality complaints for the department and complete reports as needed.
  • Ensure the department is following the Schedule Adherence for open orders.
  • Oversee cycle counts and make required inventory adjustments as needed.
  • Participate in at least two PIP programs a year.
  • Plan daily operator workload.
  • Perform quarterly safety audits.
  • Ensure proper PPE is being worn.
  • Ensure policies are being followed.
  • Review/approve timecards weekly.
  • Provide necessary feedback on employee performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees daily operations in the barcode department for assigned shift. Provides constructive feedback to employees and issues discipline as necessary.

Qualifications: Ability to lead a large number of employees in daily production processes. Ability to manage inventory in and out of department. Time management skills with ability to meet deadlines. Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Management experience and mechanical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of a standard barcoding process.
  • Working knowledge of pipe fittings by fit, form, and function.
  • Results driven with ability to manage change while keeping a positive environment.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies (TPM, WCM, LEAN).
  • Intermediate PC skills - Word, Excel, Power Point, Share Point, Outlook, ERP Systems (Microsoft AX preferred).

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions.

Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills and counting ability required.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to remember a wide range of part numbers and what parts they relate to. Ability to sort out several problems at one time. Must be able to relate to all personnel he/she comes in contact with. Ability to get along and be able to interface with other Westlake Pipe & Fittings associates.

Must be able to operate a pallet jack and remove full pallets from the barcode area to the finished goods warehouse. Good hand and eye coordination for working on parts labeling. Ability to walk and/or stand for an eight-hour period at a time. Equipment used - pallet jacks, knives, tape guns, barcode applicator machine, label printers, barcode scanners and verifiers.
