Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The idealcandidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among adiverse student population. Faculty members are responsible fordeveloping educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophyand framework of the program, MassBay Community College and (as applicable,accreditation, licensure, and specialty requirements) in accordance with the MAOffice of Emergency Medical Services and CoAEMSP. The faculty member isresponsible for maintaining a current OEMS or NREMT license/certification andexpertise in emergency medical services.

Come join our CAAHEP-accreditedParamedicine Program. MassBay CommunityCollege seeks a qualified full-time faculty to educate the next generation ofEmergency Medical Services professionals. This faculty member teaches courses inthe classroom, skills lab, simulation laboratory in both the EMT andParamedicine Programs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in using electroniclearning platforms to facilitate student learning and work as part of a team,demonstrate a passion for collaborative work with diverse faculty, staffand students and an ability to positively influence, mentor and work with adiverse student population of the Emergency Medical Services program.

Thisinstructor adheres to faculty responsibilities in accordance with regulationsset forth by the MA OEMS (Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services)and, standards set forth by CoAEMSP (Committee on Accreditation of EmergencyMedical Service Providers).
This candidate must exhibit an appreciation of, asensitivity to, and respect for a rich and diverse academic environment,inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic,cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds, and those with differingabilities.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain a full-time workload which may include teaching in EMT and Paramedicine Programs to include classroom, clinical, laboratory courses, and simulation-based courses;
  • Prepare syllabi and develop curricula for lectures, laboratory and simulation settings to address course and program student learning outcomes and Graduation Competencies as appropriate;
  • Teach effectively in a traditional, hybrid and/or online environment;
  • Serve as an academic advisor to students and maintain office hours;
  • Participate in College, Division and Program governance inclusive of attending Division, Department, Advisory Committee, and other committee meetings;
  • Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
  • Maintain a safe environment during skills training and evaluation sessions;
  • Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence and expertise in classroom/clinical/simulation teaching;
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program and accreditation agencies;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Paramedicine and any associate degree (from an accredited college or university) and 4 years of experience in the practice of pre-hospital care with a commitment to complete a bachelor’s degree (from an accredited college or university) within 2 years;
  • Current, active MA and/or NREMT Paramedic certification without restriction;
  • Four (4) years of experience as a Paramedic functioning on an emergency response ambulance;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in EMS- EMTs, Paramedics, first responders, and/or other healthcare professions;
  • Current AHA, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification;
  • Current AHA BLS Instructor credential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Availability to teach in the evening;
  • Current Massachusetts EMS Instructor/Coordinator credential;
  • Current NRP provider and instructor credential;
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
  • Demonstrated strength in teaching introductory and advanced EMT and paramedic skills;
  • Must be current in all areas of pre-hospital care and operations for instructing students in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings;
  • Demonstrated instructional technology skills in classroom and clinical teaching.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $65,000- $71,000, in accordance with one'seducation and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreementclassification compensation structure.
