Description • Designs complex engineering products, processes, or equipment, including specifications and assembly and manufacturing methods/sequence, for company products and/or manufacturing and assembly equipment. • Utilizes CAD systems extensively. Carries out finite element analysis as a regular part of design assignments. May advise lower-level non-exempt clerical and technical staff. • Works independently to gather data and input on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding purpose and parameters. • Plans and conducts engineering projects and manufacturing assignments, that require expert application of engineering knowledge. • Prepares and presents preliminary drawings, sketches or diagrams reflecting basic concept in order to obtain confirmation of approach, concept, and/or technique. • Conducts presentations with suppliers, customers and various internal departments to obtain input on, agreement with, and understanding of project objectives and schedules. • May supervise design drafters in the accomplishment of projects or assignments. • Participates in the initial studies and cost estimates for proposed projects and suggests changes to facilitate manufacture and assembly. • Prepares bill of materials and standards or specifications and participates in the development of project budgets, schedules, and release dates. • Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering design
Knowledge, skills and Experience • Technical knowledge and capabilities typically acquired in the completion of a bachelor's degree • Two or more years of experience as an entry level Engineer, while pursuing or following the engineering degree. • Possesses proven written and oral communications, technical presentation and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) skills. • 3 years of progressive experience
