Description Overview

The Position will be responsible for the Human and Food Safety, Asset Operational Performance, Maintenance Process Execution and Maintenance Team Development of a 24/7 food manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for promoting the guidance of the site’s overall asset care journey towards a proactive culture.

The Maintenance Manager is accountable for leading and directing all maintenance execution activities. The Maintenance Manager will ensure the safe successful completion of both corrective and daily maintenance work as scheduled by the planning team and its execution by partnering with operational and support team members. This role must be available to work scheduled work times, scheduled outages, weekends and holidays as needed.

Scope of the Role

  • Lead department team members to ensure safety, quality, delivery and costs are continuously being improved to achieve company objectives.
  • Ability to balance Maintenance (tactical and strategic) initiatives that align with Plant business strategies.
  • Transforming organization from reactive organization to proactive organization by utilizing Reliable Manufacturing Strategy as defined and provides inputs to improve the overall company’s strategical plan.
  • Participate in acquiring talent within maintenance organization. Includes interviewing, recruiting, selection for salaried and hourly team members. Actively support recruiting events and talent pipeline efforts.
  • Partner with Quality and Production to resolve production-related and equipment vendor-related issues.
  • Utilize CMMS to support maintenance functionality, includes reviewing work requests, work orders from shift technicians and work order results daily.
  • Lead the management of the CMMS system with current and accurate information for asset care database and asset care strategies.
  • Coordinate and lead the activities of Stores to support Procurement, Asset Care, and Uptime strategies.
  • Utilize plant maintenance team, plant reliability network, and corporate support team to define best practices for lubrication, predictive, preventive and precision maintenance strategies at asset level to drive performance improvement.
  • Promote the use of Predictive strategies, tool, and methods in conjunction with the site’s journey towards achieving a Proactive culture.
  • Assist/develop the design and implementation of capital and plant productivity projects on budget and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain Maintenance budget per guidelines and control variances.
  • Support OEM and contractor visits as needed.
  • Able to acquire certification as a CMRP, and CPR, First Aid responder.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Operations Management, or applicable technical knowledge is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial operation, maintenance or utilities operations is preferred.
  • 2+ years working with and participating in LEAN manufacturing principles and activities. Ability to demonstrate and explain LEAN principles.
  • Experience in the installation, diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment through troubleshooting required. Electrical troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair all mechanical power transmission equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, process pumps, control valves, sensors, positioners, actuators, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration, lubrication devices and basic electrical AC/DC Troubleshooting and related system.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office & CMMS System (Preferably SAP).
  • Skilled or Knowledgeable in welding, sanitary welding, pipe fitting, soldering, rigging application and use of mechanical tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Skilled or Knowledgeable in Precision Maintenance and its execution in machine shops for alignment, balancing and assembly to within a specific tolerance using various equipment.
  • 480v 3 phase knowledge required. Knowledge and practice of NFPA 70E is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash procedures and compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Experience or knowledge in personal/process control computers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Networking devices a plus.
  • Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams. Ability to Travel for Training and Continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to perform daily walking, standing, crouching, lifting (excess of 60lbs), twisting, climbing, and reaching.
