PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reporting directly to the Corporate IT Manager, the IT Administrator is responsible for delivering IT services at Nortrak’s manufacturing facilities. The IT Administrator provides support to end users and manufacturing facilities with their hardware and software needs, and monitors and maintains networks, IT systems and services to ensure security, availability and uninterrupted access to network resources in designated plants.

This position will be supporting two locations, Chicago Heights, Illinois and Decatur, Illinois.

IT Administrator Highlights:

  • Provide IT operational support for both Chicago Heights and Decatur locations.
  • Become an integral member of our distributed IT Team, coordinating with others on the delivery of services and new initiatives for the company.
  • Networking experience, CCNA, and physical networking experience an asset.
  • OT Operational Technology/Manufacturing experience in PLCs, HMIs, systems, software, security, industrial automation, and networks in the OT environment a significant asset.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Administration:

  • Manages user accounts through the user account lifecycle.
  • Monitors and maintains system security and vulnerability scores.
  • Deploys, configures, and maintains workstations and network devices according to company standards.
  • Follows standards and maintains assets in an asset management system.
  • Supports VOIP system, accounts and phones.
  • Supports multifunction copiers and printers.
  • Manages file shares and permissions adhering to protocols and data confidentiality requirements.
  • Performs and maintains backup of data and verifies backup integrity.

IT and Network Support:

  • Meets all onsite IT needs of the users and facilities assigned to the IT Administrator.
  • Provides technical support to users.
  • Provides support for applications and/or services.
  • Supports on-premise networking requirements in coordination with senior networking staff.
  • Responsible for LAN cabling requirements, coordinating network cabling installations with contractors, in office and production environments. Testing, certifying and documenting networks.
  • Rack and stack network switches and equipment.
  • Maintains or supports Local Area Network and wireless infrastructure at designated plants.
  • Supports OT/Operational Technology manufacturing environment.
  • Supports Industrial Automation technologies.
  • Implements OT Security requirements in the OT environment of the facilities.
  • Installs, configures and maintains server room infrastructure.


Others:

  • All other requirements needed to support our people, plants and processes at voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Computer Science Degree or two years of post-secondary diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science.

Field of Experience and Certifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of network administration experience.
  • Industry certifications relevant to Network Administration are required and will be evaluated, preferably:
    1. Cisco CCNA
    2. CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
    3. Microsoft Certifications: MCSA, MCSE, MCP
    4. Virtualization
    5. AWS, Azure

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (client and server).
  • Networking technologies including installation, cabling, hardware and software.
  • Active Directory.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing facilities and IT related equipment.
  • Troubleshooting of IT related issues, problem analysis and problem solving.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing.
  • Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Periodic travel will be required which includes walking, standing, sitting, flying and driving from short to long periods of time.
