SLS is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to join a fast-growing and dynamic Housing Division in pursuit of heavy civil infrastructure projects throughout the United States. The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for managing all construction efforts of subcontractors and self-performing crews to ensure the project is delivered safely on time, on budget, and of the highest quality. The Construction Superintendent will report to the Construction Manager or Project Executive and will regularly interface with Client representatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as Construction Superintendent reporting to the project Construction Manager
Effectively communicate with applicants, contractors (builders), and team members
Inspect jobs per approved policies/procedures, plans, change orders, or revisions
Maintain positive relationships with all program participants
Coordinate the feedback as needed to all parties involved in the project, which include the contractors and Construction Manager
Provide timely notifications to the Construction Manager of any schedule deviations
Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements and promptly report any unsafe conditions
Conduct weekly (daily if needed) construction meetings to identify and resolve all open issues
Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly reports are completed fully, accurately, and timely
Ensure the highest levels of professionalism and respect are always maintained on-site
Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Construction Manager
Conduct Safety Toolbox meetings with contractors
Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Minimum 5+ years as Superintendent on scattered lot developments required
2-yr or 4-yr Degree in construction management or engineering-related fields strongly desired
10-hour or 30-hour OSHA certification strongly desired
Proficiency with a computer and with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
A thorough knowledge of legal and safety standards is essential
Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Effective time management and organizational skills
Capacity to handle pressure daily
Ability to successfully pass background/security check required
Willingness to travel extensively to different job sites
HUD, CDBG or HUD CDBG-DR experience a plus
Bi-lingual a plus
Physical Demands:
Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity
Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands
Occasional lifting (up to 40 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying
Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements)
Ability to work outside in and around construction sites safely
