General Summary of Position:


The multidisciplinary and collaborative lab of Dr. Gulden Camci-Unal at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate with extensive experiences in paper-based point-of-care devices, in vitro diagnostics, ELISA-based assays, microfluidics, and biosensors to develop low-cost point-of-care diagnostics platforms for rapid and multiplexed detection of biomolecules and biomarkers in biological samples.


The initial appointment will be for 18 months contingent upon productivity, successful performance and the availability of funding.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Develop paper-based point-of-care devices for singleplex and multiplex detection of biomarkers for in vitro diagnostics

  • Use principles of ELISA-based assays for biosensor development

  • Optimize conditions for singleplex and multiplex detection of biomarkers in paper microfluidic devices

  • Use image analysis for color quantification of the detected biomarkers

  • Review appropriate literature pertaining to current or proposed research

  • Prepare materials for publications and grant applications

  • Present results in group meetings and project seminars

  • Supervise graduate students


Minimum Qualifications (Required):


Education:



  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or a related field

  • Industrial experience in point-of-care testing and in vitro diagnostics although not required can be a plus

  • Highly motivated candidates with strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal and teamwork skills are encouraged to apply. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
