Job Description:

Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional School District is looking to hire for multiple positions:

-General Cafeteria Worker - Cashier (7:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
-General Cafeteria Worker (cold food - utility) 7 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.


Below are the details for each:

General Cafeteria Worker - Cashier
The Cashier staff is an appointee of the Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional School District who reports to the Food Service Manager. The assignment reflects a work schedule that coincides with the school year calendar.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1.Maintain all refrigerator temperature logs. Record first thing in the morning and before you leave each day.
2.Start dish machine and prep dish room for the day.
3.Maintain all dish machine temperature and chemical logs.
4.Deep cleaning on dish machine on half days as needed/required.
5.Assist with breakfast sandwich production.
6.Operate register main serving line register #1 (shop breaks, breakfast and lunch).
7.Stock all items for breakfast and morning shop break.
8.Maintain first in, first out (FIFO) with all breakfast product on the line and in coolers.
Prepares specialty meals for restrictive students. Prepares bag lunches for field trips.
9.Maintain Daily production records for breakfast and lunch.
10.Coach, monitor and provide oversight to students assigned to station.
11.Refill plastic ware containers and napkins as needed.
12.Refill cooler #1 as needed (food and beverages).
13.Assist Food Service Manager with DESE required paper work (as needed).
14.Assist cooks as time permits.
15.Maintains accurate production records.
16.Cleans work areas and equipment.
17.Other duties as assigned by Food Service Manager or his/her designee.
18.May be required to work a varying schedule when the need arises.
19.Attend in-service training and other activities to stimulate professional growth. Attend outside training seminars as required.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 1.High school diploma or equivalent.
2.Positive, professional, customer service skills.
3.Working knowledge of computers, POS terminals/processing, and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word or other comparable programs.
4.Possess adequate reading, math, accounting and communication skills to perform job duties with maximum efficiency.
5.Ability to use cash registers and train new employees in uses of cash registers.
6.Understand the importance of a sound nutrition program.
7.Understand the importance of personal hygiene and health rules.
8.Serve Safe Certified.
9.Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
10. Be physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities and duties of a food services worker. This position requires frequent physical exertion. Activities include moderate to frequent physical exertion in body movements such as reaching, bending and twisting. The position also requires moderate to frequent grasping, pushing, pulling of materials, and standing for long periods of time.
11.Ability to lift 30 pounds.
12.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Business Manager may find appropriate and acceptable.


Compensation:
1.Compensation shall be based on the successful candidate’s credentials, approvals, and experience.

General Cafeteria Worker (cold food - utility)
The General Cafeteria Worker is an appointee of the Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional School District who reports to the Food Service Manager. The assignment reflects a work schedule that coincides with the school year calendar.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1.Upon arrival turn on all lights, ovens, warmers, and cold wells.
2.Bring in bread off loading dock.
3.Produce breakfast sandwiches and assorted hot items for 7:20 breakfast break.
4.Re-Stock breakfast cabinet for next day’s service.
5.Produce all fruits for the day, to include: Hand, Canned, Dried, Frozen, Juices.
6.Produce daily vegetable for Cold line and occasionally hot line.
7.Prepare the daily dessert and portion according to guidelines, Jell-O’s, puddings, cookies, etc.
8.Maintain and refill dessert, fruit, and veggie trays in between all lunches.
9.Maintain a daily food production log for the items you are preparing.
10.Work with deli and salad staff when time permits
11.Maintain pot sink throughout the day. Record Chemical data required
12.Work, coach and monitor students assigned to station.
13.Assist with station food refills in between lunches
14.Restock deli milk and food coolers between lunch services.
15.Assist with table washing after each lunch, whenever needed.
16.Assist with dish room duties, whenever needed.
17.Reports concerns regarding inventory/supplies for sink and deli room to Food Service Manager.
18.Maintains Daily Food Production logs for items served when filling in for an absent co-worker.
19.Attend in-service training and other activities to stimulate professional growth. Attend outside training seminars as required.
20.Assist with other various duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager or his/her designee.
21.May be required to work a varying schedule when the need arises.

9. Ability to lift between 40 and 50 pounds.

11. Possess appropriate reading, math and communication skills
12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations may find appropriate and acceptable.



Compensation:
1.Hourly compensation based on experience and qualifications.
