Job Description:

Quality Engineer
This position is responsible for the development, application, and maintenance of quality requirements/standards under the direct supervision of the Quality Engineer Manager.

Develop test methods/procedures to support product validation effortsServe as the primary Quality Assurance resource to department supervisors for resolution, loss reporting, and continuous improvementDesign and implement methods for process control, process improvement, and testingPromote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, and reportsInterface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems and ensure that effective corrective action is implementedMaintain test equipment to traceable standards accepted in the automobile industryDirectly support and/or lead new product launches, including coordination with tooling vendors, communication with customers, and coordination of project activities from quoting through SORPCreate and maintain APQP documentation, including control plans, process flows, and PFMEA activitiesSubmitting PPAP documentation in the customer format & softwareRead blueprints, specifications and create associated PPAP documentation to ensure that specifications, standard processes, and operations are being maintained and that due care in the manufacture of the product is being maintainedEvaluate causes of scrap and work toward the elimination of such defectsCoordinate with Operations to lead and direct associates on quality standardsMonitor tooling and assembly process equipment ensuring calibration standards and process checkpoints are complete and within operational tolerancesAudit quality systems insuring adherence to Quality Management System procedures. Responsible for maintenance of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certificationsRegular and reliable attendance at work

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may occasionally be required to lift 51 pounds; anything greater than 51 pounds requires assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
This job is performed in a busy warehouse environment with high forklift traffic. Warehouses are subject to seasonal temperatures. Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses and vests are required personal protective equipment (PPE). Time will be split between office environment and production/warehouse environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full Time. Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required.

Travel
Some travel between locations may be required.

Education and Experience
BS in Engineering or related technical field Supply Chain and or Business Management or equivalent in experience, training and/or Certifications.5+ years of experience in a supply chain/manufacturing environmentAPQP Core Tool Knowledge: Control Plans; PFMEA; Process Flow; PPAP; Gage Control & MSAFluent in use of a variety problem solving tools and techniques (A3 / 8D; 5-Why; Cause & Effects Analysis; PDCA; DMAIC; etc...)Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and VisioBasic Knowledge of Statistical Process Control as well as Process Capability and ControlKnowledge of IATF16949, ISO9001 and ISO14001; Capable of internal audits; supplier audits; and management of supplier corrective actionsASQ CQE, QMS Internal Auditor, and/or Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is a plus
