Job Description:

Hillmann Consulting is a nationwide, full-service environmental and construction consulting firm with nearly 40 years of experience in providing customized Environmental Health and Safety, Remediation Support, Real Estate Due Diligence, Geotechnical, Construction Risk Management and Laboratory Analysis services. With a full-time staff of nearly 250 people, Hillmann delivers consulting with an uncompromising commitment to Integrity, People, Business Acumen, Expertise, and Community Service.

We have an immediate need for a Controller out of our Union, NJ Office to oversee all accounting functions and maintain the company's control environment.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting functions:

Billing
Accounts Receivable - cash application
Credit and Collection
Accounts Payable
Processing of Expense Reports
General accounting

Account analysis
Journal entry preparation and posting
Bank Account Reconciliations
Recordkeeping - maintaining documentation in accordance with NYS law.
Filing of annual census and other Government information reporting

Payroll

Preparation of the payroll
Ensure the payroll service files the quarterly tax reports
Reconcile the general ledger tot eh quarterly 941 reports
Ensure that the 401k withholdings are deposited immediately when payroll is processed.
Preparation of Form W-2s and W-3

Taxes

Ensure that the company remits all taxes when due -

Sales tax
Income tax - Federal and State

Procedures and Controls

Ensure adequate segregation of duties in key control areas - like cash receipts, cash disbursements, application of cash remittances to customer accounts, expenditure approvals, customer and vendor set up.
Establish procedures and controls that enable the books and records to produce meaningful information
Establish controls that protect the assets of the company
Establish controls that ensure a proper cutoff for month-end reporting
Ensure that confidential information is physically protected

Interface with the public accountants
Interface with financial auditors
Interface with banks and lenders

Financial Reporting:

Produce historical financial statements on a timely basis that enable comparison to the previous year, prior month, and Budget
On the monthly reporting, provide insights and explanations to the management team
Highlight important trends in financial results
Respond to inquiries from the management team


Qualifications:

College Degree (or equivalent Baccalaureate degree) in accounting, finance, economics or related fields.
A minimum of ten years of experience.
Have an in-depth understanding of accounting and business concepts.
Experience with Deltek or similar systems.
Valid US driver's license and reliable means of transportation.
